REMEMBER // 9-11

Never Forget

Remembering September 11th 2001

Today is a day that reflects a significant day in US history. September 11th 2001 was the day our Twin Towers were attacked by Al Qaeda. For the last 12 years, our country has suffered from fears with our security, war, and economy. I was in 3rd grade when the terrorist organization attacked NYC. I will never forget the teachers in my small elementary school that were trying to mask their fear to keep the students safe. I remember being picked up by my mom, who was crying and terrified of what was going to come next after NYC.

The after effect has lasted still to this day. People fail to recognize that historical events, such as 9/11, really do effect our economy and way of life. As a society, we have more fear of what these terrorist groups are capable of. Raising a child in this day of age seems to be scarier than what it was 20+ years ago.

Scrolling through my different social media sites like, Facebook and Instagram, I see people making comments such as "Happy 9/11" and that our government had set this up as some kind of conspiracy theory. I think its safe to say that as American people, we understand that there is  some corruption within our government forces, for example the IRS scandal. However, to think that our country would create or favor this event...that is just absurd. The only 'happy' aspect about the anniversaries is that we are a country that holds FREEDOM. We should be thankful that today, we are alive and living a life that most other countries' citizens dream to have.

Today, please take a moment to be truly thankful to be safe and free. A huge thank you to those who were there that day 12 years ago, who risked their lives to safe all of those they could.
